I haven't seen the movie in years, but I do remember "Go ahead and pull it, pull that hog leg". And another; "Skin that smoke wagon". Both talking about pulling out his peacemaker.

Just because they claim it doesn't make it true, but they think it sounds good. If I remember correctly, they claim that Abel was the first JW. Of course, as always, they have nothing to prove this or any other belief.

Poll: Who Left Whilst Still Believing?
by brinjen inthis is for an upcoming youtube project.
i would love to do this on a mass scale... think there might be something "big" in the results.. 1. were you a born-in (including those who's parents converted while they were still children) or did you convert as an adult?.
2. when you left, did you still (a) fully believe in the truthtm, (b) partially believe or (c) realise it was all a load of crap?.

1. Started "studying" at 12, baptized at 14
2. Crap
3. Crap
4. Not at all, also crap
5. B, but leaning toward C. I strongly agree with Missing Link on this one.

What is the JW story on baptisim?
by Out at Last! inthey claim that all of their beliefs and actions are based on the scriptures, so how can they justify 9,10 year olds, or even early teens getting baptized?
jesus was 29, john the baptist was the same age or a year older.
all of the others i recall from the ot & nt were adults.

That is exactly my point. What if any scriptural backing do they use to promote baptisim of minors?

Inference and what jehovahs witnesses fail to see wrt. 607, evolution, the ark, etc.
by bohm in"hey guys, last summer i spend 3 days in the stomach of a live sperm whale".
the imediate reaction when you hear that is to think im lying.
if i had written that in a book called "the things i did last summer", everyone would tend to treat that rest of the material in that book with sceptisism.

What a loving God to tell Nostradamus like prophesy that can be fufilled in numerous times and ways, then record it hundreds of years later by men. Then over centuries let men translate and twist Gods words to fit any number of beliefs and teachings.
If God is almighty and loves mankind, why can't he provide a book that undesputedly contains his thoughts and teachings. Could not an almighty accomplish that? And why can't he just say what he means? Why would he have things written in a way that it could be mis interpreted? Why all the math that the JW's teach, inspired visions, and "miracles" that could mean just about anything?

so if paradise won't happen, what about armargedon?
by highdose init has been recently proved ( as far as i'm concerned) that paradise the jw view of it isn't coming.
scriptual evidence is so thin as to be non exsistent.
ok so what about armargedon then?

All cults try to scare their members into walking the straight and narrow by talking about a doomsday of one type or another. Hundreds of armageddons have been predicted, and hundreds have failed. If there is a divine, almighty being, in my opinion, he has either stopped looking or stopped caring about humankind. Guess what? We determine our own fate, for good or bad.

They claim that all of their beliefs and actions are based on the scriptures, so how can they justify 9,10 year olds, or even early teens getting baptized? Jesus was 29, John the baptist was the same age or a year older. All of the others I recall from the OT & NT were adults. In my case I was at the ripe old age of 14 when I was baptized, at the age when I knew everything, or so I thought. All reasonable adults KNOW that children can not make decisions that will affect them for the rest of their lives. So why do dubs stand by and encourage, & even pressure their young ones to make this decision, especially when there are no scriptural grounds for doing such?
Is the answer as simple as I think? Do they want to trap people while they are young, and for life? If that is the plan, it is obvously flawed as evidenced by the hundreds, even thousands of young adults fleeing from WTS as soon as they have the chance, and are logical enough to make such decisions.
As I said, I think I know the answers to the questions that I am asking, I think that I just needed to vent.

Disfellowshipping reasons
by GapingMouth ini grew up as a dub, and i was taught that there weren't specific reasons why people got disfellowshipped.
i was taught they didn't announce what the wrong was as they were df'd because they were 'unrepentant'.
now i know the wts is full of **** and i see a few posts about tattoos and piercings etc being cause for df'ing.

On The Way Out - If you collect magazines in your trunk and later throw them away, make sure to count them as placements on your monthly service report, otherwise service overseer hounder will see a huge number on order and few placements. Any hounder worth his weight would jump on that.
